The Charitable Journalism Project is looking for two new trustees to join our board, and help us continue our mission of improving the philanthropic prospects for public interest journalism in the UK.

Our mission:

  • To make it easier for non-profit, independent journalism outlets to gain charitable status, and
  • Improve the philanthropic landscape for UK journalism through research, education and advocacy

About the role

You will be joining our three current trustees, and an advisory group of ten comprising journalists, lawyers, academics and other experts. We meet 2 – 4 times a year, online for an hour, to discuss updates to and next steps for our current projects. The time commitment is roughly a couple of hours a month.

This is a voluntary, non-executive role ideal for someone who wants to use their skills to support the prosperity of journalism in the UK. You might have relevant expertise in non-profit journalism, academic research or charity law, or connections in Westminster or the Charity Commission, for example.

Application
Send a cover letter and CV to ekmizon@gmail.com by the end of June 2025, and we will send you an email to acknowledge your application. If you have any questions please email ekmizon@gmail.com
